About me
Hello! I’m Frances McQuarrie, but I prefer to go by Francie.
I’m currently a Master of Science student in Statistics - Advanced Methods and Data Analysis at the University of Washington in Seattle specializing in Statistical Learning theory. My coursework thus far has included Statistical Inference, Applied Regression, Statistical Computing, Stochastic Processes, Statistical Demography, and Nonparametric Regression & Classification. Future coursework includes Statistical Learning, Advanced Regression Methods, and Analysis of Count & Categorical Data. I graduate from this masters program in March of 2022.
Before graduate school, I was an undergraduate studying Statistics, Data Science, and Computer Science at University of California, Berkeley. See my CV for the full list of my relevant undergraduate coursework. In addition to coursework, I also spent time during my undergrad developing the undergraduate Data Science education program at Berkeley. I spent eight semesters working as an Undergraduate Student Instructor (UGSI) for Data 8, Stat 88, and Data 100. I even had the incredible opportunity to lecture Data 8 during the summer 2019 term.
In the field of Statistics and Data Science, I am interested in problems related to statistical machine learning or statistical learning theory. More generally, I enjoy exploring how we can use statistically-backed methods (as opposed to black-box algorithms) to solve modern problems with incomplete information.
I am currently recruiting for Data Scientist, Statistical Analyst, or Machine Learning Engineer full time roles that begin in May or June of 2022.
